Dressing my child for sports
Whether at school or at a sports’ club, children need to be physically active. Sports activities teach them many values and allow them to create social bonds. To help them blossom during their activities, DPAM equips your sporty kids for all occasions.
Dressing your child for sports at school
In general, your children’s teachers inform you about the items required for P.E class. Some basic items can make up part of your child’s wardrobe without fear of any blunders! They can wear them for different daily activities, such as going to play in the park or countryside and feel at ease in their clothes.
Sports clothes for indoor sports
If your child does indoor sports, at a sports hall or gymnasium, provide your child with sports clothes in light, breathable fabric which protect against overheating and allow sweat to evacuate easily. For example:
- A pair of shorts or leggings by DPAM for the lower body ;
- A baggy or fitted tee-shirt according to your child’s preference;
- A zip-up top that can be opened or easily removed as needed;
- A pair of trainers or comfortable sports slippers that match the particular activity and teacher’s request.
Sports gear for outdoor sports
At school, your child may be required to practice an outdoor sport. It is recommended to adapt their sports gear, especially when the temperatures begin to fall. As air provides the most effective thermal insulation, opt for layers. Your child can remove a layer when he or she is running about and active or add on a layer when immobile or on the touchline. The best items are:
- A tracksuit, with fleece-lined bottoms and sweatshirt ;
- A tee-shirt or long-sleeved top according to season;
- A pair of socks;
- A pair of waterproof trainers
Now they are ready to beat records! On cold or wet days, opt for a light parka jacket with hood which protects against wind and rain without blocking sweat from evacuating. It’s not a good idea to overdress your child for sports activities. On the contrary, they could then feel too hot and remove clothing while sweating… and that’s when they are at greater risk of catching cold! Since, body heat is lost through the extremities, provide hat and gloves during winter. For summer, light clothing, sunscreen and hat are essential to avoid heatstroke and sunburn!
Your child does after school sports
By choosing basic sports clothes, you’ll cover most required items for school sports activities. On the other hand, for after school activities, you’ll need to complete your child’s gear with specific items!
Sportswear for water sports
If your child goes to the swimming pool with his or her school or with you, DPAM swimwear is both very trendy and easy to wear. You can also get a towel, sandals or goggles according to age.
A good pair of trainers
If your child does an indoor sport which implies a lot of jumping, such as basketball or handball, get them a good pair of trainers. A thick sole is important for absorbing shocks. Is your child still having difficulty tying his or her laces? Opt for Velcro or elasticated laces which allow him or her to put on trainers without having to undo the knots. A top start!
